UT3 Comic-Con Footage Analysis

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

If you’ve been waiting for some good UT3 footage to come out the wait is over. Epic Games has been showing the game off at Comic-Con. Players can jump on the computers and play multiplayer DeathMatch. Over at BeyondUnreal we were lucky enough to have Princess_Die send us over 4 very good quality shakeycam videos. We’re very lucky that Princess_Die sent us the footage and all the credit goes to him. I’m just lucky enough to be a staff member at BeyondUnreal so that I can see them early. Highres links are available here and here. Here’s my more detailed synopsis and opinions based on what I’ve seen in the videos.

Why Silicon Knights Needs A Wakeup Call

Friday, July 20th, 2007

The big story of the day is that Epic is being sued by Silicon Knights. It’s been quite some time since I’ve seen news this big. There were at least 8 e-mails about it sent to the beyondunreal news mailer, all the major gaming websites have picked it up, and it’s already hit digg. If you don’t know what I’m talking about head over to Gamasutra who I believe has the best synopsis of what’s going on. I think in the end this whole thing is just going to blow up in Silicon Knight’s faces. These guys seem to be absolutely cluelesss. So here’s a wakup call for you Silicon Knights. Fact of the matter here is that YOUR GAME SUCKS, and you have nobody to blame but yourselves!

GG Digg

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Here’s how it went down:

Yesterday I posted the 2008 Election Merchandise article here.  There was a lot of thought and work behind that post as I wanted it to be my first really good blog post.  I was quite proud of myself and said “hey I bet I could put this on Digg with something about Ron Paul in the title and it might do ok”.  So I went over to Digg and submitted the story as “Buy a Ron Paul Maternity T-Shirt!”  Afterwards I posted the link to the story in IRC and on my Pownce page.  The story got 6 diggs, and a few comments before the end of the night.  I thought hey cool this is turning out perfect.

I wake up the next day, my story is gone, and I see this:

My Digg Account is Disabled :(

I have no clue what happened.  I have a few theories. Maybe they don’t like you linking to your digg stories like I did on pownce.  They may have thought the title of the story was misleading.  Maybe people just marked it as spam and the system automatically cut me out.  Either way I really don’t think I did anything wrong, so I’m obviously very confused.

I guess it doesn’t really matter, I can still read stories, and that’s what I really like using the site for.  Besides if I ever do write something worth digging you guys will submit the story for me right?

Feel free to post conspiracy theories in the comments.

2008 Election Gear

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

As you may already know, Mitt Romney should be president. I’m not sure why, but all the sudden I have this huge interest in the 2008 elections. Perhaps it’s because I’ve been brainwashed by those guys on talk radio that are running the country. Maybe I just want a Mormon to be president. It could just be that Mitt Romney is fricking cool! Either way, I really want this guy to be president.

I am so interested in his campaign that I’ve actually considered buying Mitt Romney merchandise. Yes, that’s right Mitt Romney has a store on his website where you can buy various items with his name on it. In fact many of the candidates have stores. I found this all quite humorous. Here’s a few examples of the things that you can go and buy:

Dragons and meep

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

You may have noticed that some of your dragon friends may “meep!” at you. The first time this happens you may feel confused. What is meep supposed to mean anyways? Despite it’s increasing popularity few people know the true meaning of the word meep, and others are simply misinformed. This is unfortunate, and is the source of many a dragon’s unhappiness. Luckily, you’ve come to the right place. Nobody knows more about meep nor has used it more often than I have. In fact I dare say that I am primarily responsible for making the word popular. Many of my friends saw me meeping, and thought it was cool. As the trend spread to the masses it’s origin was quickly lost. This is why I’ve decided that it is time to set the record straight.
