About Me
My name is TWD (The White Dragon), and I’m the writer here at this weblog. You might be wondering who I am and why I made this website.
First off I was born on May 31st 1985. That makes me 22 at the time this page was written. I was born in Utah, and I’ve lived here all my life in a suburb of Salt Lake City. Yes, I am a Mormon, and I served a mission for my church at Independence, Missouri between 2004 and 2006. When I got home I started attending the University of Utah where I am currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science.
I have always been a complete computer and internet junkie. In fact I practically grew up on the internet. My favorite website is the forums at BeyondUnreal. I’ve been posting there almost every day since 2000. The community there is great, and has had a huge affect on who I am today. It was here that I first started to learn how to make websites, and program. I’m not the best web designer, but I think I’m pretty ok at writing code. Over the years I’ve had several failed attempts at websites. Many of them being personal websites, or small coding projects. I’ve constantly felt the need to have a website for myself, but I never get far.
So one day like a message from heaven it was like “TWD you need to just stop fooling around, and make something simple that you can update every day”. It was very much an all the sudden out of nowhere thing. It kinda scares me now thinking that I spent a good chunk of money on something so whimsical. Either way I did it. I bought some web hosting, and uploaded wordpress to it. It took me a weekend to find the plugins I needed, and hack the PHP code to get everything the way I wanted it. I consider this to be my first real website, and so far I’m very happy with the results.
Sure it’s nothing spectacular, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. Few things make me happier than meeting new friends from efforts like this. Some days I post some commentary that relates to things I see on the internet. I also like to spew out everything I’ve learned about web development. Then of course I love to show all the interesting things I’ve found on the internet. I try to update it every day with links and so forth, with a major article at least once or twice a week.
